Barcelona have been offered the chance to sign Ben White from Arsenal in the summer transfer window, according to Fichajes. The report in the Spanish news outlet has claimed that Barcelona, who won La Liga last season, have ‘received a formal offer from Mikel Arteta’ to ‘acquire the services’ of White.
White is struggling for playing time at Arsenal, and it is very likely that the former Brighton and Hove Albion defender will leave the Premier League giants at the end of the season. The 28-year-old English defender has made five starts in the Premier League and three starts in the UEFA Champions League for Arsenal so far this season.
Fichajes has noted: “Barcelona’s technical department values the versatility of Ben White, a player capable of performing naturally both as a centre-back and a full-back.
“For Barcelona, having a player who excels in ball distribution and defensive anticipation is an absolute priority in the current style of play.
“The market value of the English international is around €30 million, a figure that the Catalan entity considers reasonable given the financial circumstances.
“Although his participation this season has been somewhat discreet with seven appearances, his technical quality is undeniable for the level demanded by La Liga.”
