The singer, who has crooned the biggest hits in Bollywood, shared a post on Tuesday (January 27), stating that he won’t be taking up new assignments as a playback vocalist. In his post, he wrote, “I am calling it off’, which left his followers from across the globe shocked.

“Hello, Happy New Year to all. I want to thank you for giving me so much of love all these years as listeners. I am happy to announce that I am not gonna be taking any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. I am calling it off. It was a wonderful journey,” his post read.

As soon as Arijit shared the post, fans flooded the comments section with their messages. They expressed their shock, requesting the Channa Mereya singer to reconsider his decision.

One user commented, “India is legit not ready for the farewell of this person from the music industry, like he is ruling every other person’s Spotify and Apple Music
