Independent singer songwriter Anuv Jain has wrapped up the India leg of his Dastakhat Tour, and what remains is far more than memories of sold out venues. Across cities, the tour unfolded as a deeply emotional journey, filled with moments that brought Anuv and his listeners closer than ever.
Looking back, Anuv shared a note that perfectly captures what the tour meant to him. “The India leg of my world tour is now over so I wanted to share my thoughts with you guys. There’s a reason why I broke down during my first show in Delhi. I felt pure, unadulterated, childlike happiness on stage and you guys are the reason. It was my job to make you guys cry but look what happened,” he said, setting the emotional tone for what followed across the country.
He described the past year as big, beautiful yet brutal, carrying all of that into the shows. “So much has happened, so much has been said. When I saw you, my family, showing up for me, I just couldn’t help myself. And that’s what you guys did. You showed up. In every city,” Anuv shared, acknowledging the constant presence and support of his audience through every stop on the tour.
Though these were some of the largest shows of his career, Anuv says they never felt overwhelming. Instead, they felt intimate. “You know me man, I’m a numbers guy. These were some of the biggest shows I’ve ever done and yet they felt like the most intimate ones. Every time I was on stage it never felt like I was performing for a crowd. It felt like I was performing for every individual person. Not one concert for ten thousand people but ten thousand individual shows for 10,000 individual people,” he reflected.
As the curtains close on the India leg of Dastakhat, Anuv Jain takes away something far more lasting than applause. “These shows have done what shows are supposed to do. Bring the artist and their audience closer to each other,” he said, signing off with love, gratitude and a bond that feels stronger than ever.
