Andy Richter just inaugurated the Dancing With the Stars love triangle no one saw coming.
During a Los Angeles Kings hockey game on Saturday, the Cryto.com Arena kiss cam focused on Dancing With the Stars pros and recent romantic partners Alan Bersten and Emma Slater. The happy couple complied with the implicit demand to give the crowd what they wanted: a sincere smooch, captured in a Sunday Instagram post by Bersten. But as Bersten began to pull back, Richter pulled a wild move of his own.
The comedian, longtime sidekick to late-night legend Conan O’Brien, and season 34 celebrity partner to Slater, politely tapped Bersten on the shoulder. Bersten turned, locked eyes with Richter, and planted a kiss on him as well, causing the crowd to erupt with giddy shock. The giddiest among them were new DWTS pro Jan Ravnik and Richter’s wife, Jennifer Herrera Richter, who convulsed with joy in the seats behind Richter, Bersten, and Slater.
“Last night was so fun!” Bersten wrote in the caption to his post. “[Emma Slater] and I had our first kiss cam! And so did [Andy Richter] at the [L.A. Kings].”
Scads of Richter’s season 34 celebrity competitors flooded the comment section to share their delight. Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star and 6th place runner-up Whitney Leavitt commented, “This is everything and more!” Parent Trap icon Elaine Hendrix, who placed 5th after making it all the way to the finals with Bersten as her own pro partner, wrote, “Should I be jealous of Andy?”

Slater and Bersten only recently began dating, as until 2024, she was married to to fellow pro Sasha Farber. Slater and Farber, who co-starred on 11 seasons of the reality competition series, were married in 2018 and initiated divorce proceedings in 2022, which were finalized two years later.
Bersten, meanwhile, has not previously dated another DWTS pro, but has dated his celebrity partners in the past. After being romantically linked to his season 27 partner Alexis Ren in 2018, Bersten noted to US Weekly that he learned “to not mix business with pleasure.”

Slater and Bersten both got their celebrity partners far this past season on Dancing With the Stars.
Bersten helped maneuver Hendrix into the finals, becoming only the third woman over 50 ever to do so on the series. Thanks in large part to her creation of numerous viral social media videos starring Richter, Slater helped propel the comedian all the way to week 9, despite consistently low marks from the judges.
In a November interview with Entertainment Weekly, Richter noted that “there were times I felt survivor’s guilt. But I don’t really feel regret about that, about other people being eliminated before me, because that isn’t anything I really had any control over.”
