70th Filmfare Awards South (Telugu): Big B Wins Award For Kalki 2898 AD; Becomes His 1st South Filmfare Award


The 70th Filmfare Awards South in Kochi, Kerala, celebrated major wins across four industries, with Amitabh Bachchan receiving Best Supporting Actor (Male) for Kalki 2898 AD. The honour for playing Ashwatthama marked Amitabh Bachchan’s first South Filmfare Award, adding strong focus on the Telugu sci-fi film.

Amitabh Bachchan did not attend the ceremony, yet Kalki 2898 AD still drew attention. The Telugu film, released on 27 June 2024, earned over Rs 1,000 crore worldwide. The production team also collected the award for production design, underlining the scale and visual detail of the project.
